Personal Assistant Instructor - Training & Orientation Program
SEIU Healthcare Illinois & Indiana is a dynamic, action-oriented union of over 85,000 healthcare and childcare workers throughout Illinois and Indiana. The METC exists to provide education and training for SEIU Healthcare members through skills training programs and classes that support worker empowerment and build a stronger union. METC events has run events with nearly 30,000 attendees.
Purpose:
The Personal Assistant Instructor (PAI) is expected to operate in the Member Education and Training Center (METC) as part of its Personal Assistant Training Program. The PAI will also work closely with METC, staff, and leaders to communicate with union members about union training programs and current issues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The PAI’s primary responsibility is training workers and preparing to deliver the training program curricula. In addition, the PAI may perform one or a combination of the duties and responsibilities listed below, depending on the particular assignment.
Scope and Nature of Supervision:
The PAI’s primary responsibility is the development and education of Personal Assistants. The PAI must be able to act and organize his/her time independently. S/he must also be able to receive direction from and interact with the Training Manager, as well as other union officers, staff, and leaders when it becomes necessary in the daily operation of the METC.
Minimum Qualifications
Criteria for Evaluation:
The PAI will be evaluated on his/her ability and skills in training and assisting workers. The PAI will embrace the mission of SEIU HCII and the METC and demonstrate our organization’s values on a daily basis. Among other criteria, s/he will be evaluated on ability to work independently, maintain working relations with workers and staff, balance conflicting demands successfully, and carry out assigned tasks in a competent and professional manner in keeping with the METC’s overall goals and expectations. On a regular basis, staff will participate in formal feedback and evaluation.
Working Conditions:
The PAI will be asked to work a variety of times including some evenings, Saturdays and certain daytime hours. Hours and locations will be variable depending on class schedule.
Salary and Benefits:
PAIs will be paid $270 per 3-hour class, for class instruction and preparation time, no additional benefits provided
