Description
Are you looking for a temporary role that starts as a 3-month assignment with the possibility for longer-term employment?  We are looking for someone to provide critical administrative and data entry support in our various training programs.
 

Helen Miller SEIU Member Education and Training Center (METC) is seeking person to provide administrative and data entry support for our programs.  The METC provides work-force training opportunities to members of the Service Employment International Union Healthcare Illinois Indiana (SEIU Healthcare), one of the largest and fastest growing affiliates of SEIU. 

Description:   Responsibilities include tracking class attendance, shipping class materials to instructors, managing data entry in to database and other program administrative or data support.  This position reports to the METC Training Director.  This is an Hourly Position for a minimum of 3 months working 40+ hours per week.  There will be an ongoing evaluation of work needs and candidate performance to determine length of assignment beyond 3 months.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Administrative duties include but not limited to:

  • Perform administrative tasks such as mailing or shipping materials to members or Training Instructors, answering phone calls and interacting with staff and members,
  • Operating office equipment such as phone, scanner, copy machine,
  • Use of computer hardware and software including databases, MS Excel, MS Word and Outlook,
  • Processing paperwork and filing documents,
  • Responding to inquiries using phone, email and other communication tools, and assisting METC with texting or calling members,
  • Other administrative duties as assigned,  

Data entry and document scanning into database system including but not limited to

  • Data entry and data organizing
  • Processing & Scanning incoming documents within database system
  • Understand policies, procedures as applicable to the different training programs
  • Process documents received via mail
  • Assist with all aspects of event logistics including reserving venue locations, arranging meeting supplies and any other logistics support
  • Communicate between Operation departments
  • Assist with special projects as needed
  • Be prepared to work longer or irregular hours when needed.

Working Conditions: 

The Admin and Data Processor works indoors in a controlled environment at and around their desk.  Minimal lifting required up to 15lbs for shipping packages. 

 

Key Qualification Criteria

  • Strong commitment to social justice
  • Ability to work in a multicultural and diverse work environment
  • Two years of experience in a data entry and administrative role
  • Proficient alphanumerical skills with a minimum 75 WPM
  • Computer knowledge including Microsoft Office Suite 2007 or later version, including Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Access
  • Ability to navigate using the internet, database and SharePoint experience
  • Able to maintain multiple project timelines concurrently, work within close supervision and willingness to take initiative
  • Possess Critical thinking skills
  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills and strong phone skills
  • Ability to organize your work to deliver accurate and trackable results

Preferred experience

  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Worked in a community organizing environment or with workforce training projects
  • Strong computer skills including experience with Unionware and higher level Excel skills
  • Experience with QuickBooks v16, Union Ware database or other software
