The Helen Miller Member Education and Training Center (METC) is an educational organization providing instruction and training to workers represented by members of Service Employees International Union Healthcare Illinois/Indiana/Missouri/Kansas (SEIU HCIIMK). SEIU HCIIMK is a dynamic, action-oriented union of over 95,000 healthcare and child care workers throughout those four states. Office Location: Chicago, Illinois (Hybrid)

Purpose:
METC is committed to ensuring access to training opportunities for Public and Private Homecare workers, Child Care Providers and other Healthcare Workers that are represented by our Local. METC runs specific training programs that are governed by collectively bargained agreements and/or other contracts. The Manager of Training Services provides leadership and support to the Training & Outreach Assistants (TOA) team and independent contractors providing training and facilitation support. This role collaborates with the Director of Training Services, Management Team, Program Team, and other key individuals to ensure delivery of high-quality class content, instruction and participant experience. This position reports to the Director of Training Services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate METC TOAs, class facilitators, and independent contractors (e.g., Child Care Instructors, Member Facilitators).
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and professional development to TOAs on effective registration protocols and participant support before, during, and after class.
  • Manage group and one-on-one communications with TOAs and facilitators, ensuring accountability, performance monitoring, and alignment with organizational policies.
  • Reinforce and monitor adherence to METC Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and best practices.

Program & Instructional Support

  • Partner with the Training Services Director in advancing curriculum development and building a strong, effective Training & Outreach team.
  • Partner with senior programmers and data administrators on scheduling, assignments, online course management, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide comprehensive oversight of contracted instructors and facilitators, including administrative coordination, performance support, and ongoing training to maintain quality instruction and adherence to METC protocols.
  • Collaborate with the Deputy Director to train and monitor the Online Learning Support Services (OLSS) team.
  • Participate in various training programs for enhanced professional development.

Administrative & Operational Management

  • Create, update, and maintain electronic files, contracts, forms, and correspondence related to instructors, facilitators, and TOAs.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures across all supervised staff and contractors.
  • Serve as a liaison with external education funds and institutions for collaborative projects and research that enhance class content and delivery.
  • Organize and balance competing demands, meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Duties:

  • All staff are expected to respect the processes of the organization and are expected to work within the framework of the organization to resolve internal disputes and issues.

Working Conditions:
The Manager of Training Services must have the ability to travel and work evenings and weekends. Job requires occasional minimal lifting of up to 50lbs of boxes and shipping packages.

 

Key Qualification Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a non-profit setting with administrative and operational responsibilities.
  • Experience leading and managing large teams in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong commitment to social justice, equity, and worker empowerment.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative team culture built on collegiality, accountability, and respect for racial justice, cultural diversity and others.
  • Experience in adult education with knowledge of pedagogical approaches, including popular education.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to adapt communication style across diverse audiences.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to create clear, concise reports and summaries.
  • Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and think creatively while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel), Canva, Smartsheet, Adobe and internet tools; ability to adapt to new technologies.
  • Expertise in Zoom platform.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in real-time.
Preferred Qualifications - Candidates with one or more of the following are preferred:
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary: $79,343 - $86,628/ Annually.
