Description
The Helen Miller Member Education and Training Center (METC) is an educational organization
providing instruction and training to workers represented by members of Service Employees 
International Union Healthcare Illinois/Indiana/Missouri/Kansas (SEIU HCIIMK). SEIU HCIIMK is a 
dynamic, action-oriented union of over 95,000 healthcare and childcare workers throughout those 
four states. We believe in a society defined by freedom and justice, where we can all have quality

owned subsidiary of SEIU HCIIMK, Helen Miller METC seeks to provide a high-quality curriculum on a 
popular education model to thousands of low-wage workers to enhance their on-the-job experience and 
support their career development. The METC is a 501(c)3 organization.

Purpose:
The Administrative & Data Processing Assistant is responsible for processing stipend payments post 
class attendance, verifying and managing data entry into database and other programs, in addition 
to providing administrative and data support to the METC. This position reports to the METC Deputy 
Director.

Location: Chicago, IL

Duties and Responsibilities:

Administrative:
•  Communicate with members, answer inquiries and reminders
•  Operate office equipment such as copies, scanners and phone systems.
•  Use of computer hardware and software including databases; Office 365, MS Excel, MS Word and Outlook.
•  Use of proprietary database of events and members.
•  Organize paperwork and filing documents.
•  Responding to inquiries using phone, email and other communication tools, and assisting METC with texting or calling members.
•  Other administrative duties as assigned.

Data Entry and Document Processing:
•  Process training sign-in sheets and other class materials.
•  Data entry and processing of class attendance.
•  Contact members for missing attendance forms and stipend verification information
•  Register members for make-up classes
•  Update members information to reflect the most current contact information
•  Engage with members for upcoming classes
•  Process and scan incoming documents into database system.

Administrative & Data Processing Assistant
•  Understand policies, procedures as applicable to the different training programs to properly approve stipend and other class payments.
•  Communicate training information with the operation departments, Organizing divisions and others within SEIU HCII.
•  Assist with special projects as needed.

Working Conditions:
•  The Administrative and Data Processing Assistant must be prepared to work long or irregular hours, when needed. The job requires minimal lifting of up to 50lbs of boxes and shipping packages.

Key Qualification Criteria:
•  Strong commitment to social justice.
•  Ability to work in a multicultural and diverse work environment.
•  Two years of experience in data entry and administrative role.
•  Computer knowledge including Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
•  Ability to navigate using the internet, database and SharePoint experience.
•  Able to maintain multiple project timelines concurrently, work within close supervision and willingness to take initiative.
•  Possess critical thinking skills.
•  Sound interpersonal communication skills and strong customer service phone skills.
•  Ability to organize their work to deliver accurate and trackable results.

Preferred Experience:
•  Bilingual English/Spanish.
•  Worked in a community organizing environment or with workforce training projects.
•  Strong computer skills including experience with Union Ware and higher-level Excel skills.
•  Experience with QuickBooks v16, Union Ware database or other software.
